Directions: From Kristianstad road 21 towards Hässleholm. After about 3 km take road 19 towards Osby-Broby. Links on the right side along road 19(About 10 km from Kristianstad C).

Directions: The course is located in Åhus about 18km south of Kristianstad. Take road 118 towards Åhus. At the roundabout turn right, follow signs.
Skåne’s ”back side”, Kristianstad, has more affordable golf and above all good condition of the courses already from early spring. This is the place for a kick-start of the golf season!
Marlene Hedblom, sometime golf star and reporter for Golfresan’s TV part sometimes, is sitting in a wood-heated bathtub at Hanöbukten to be filmed by a cameraman for a feature on the Golfresan TV show.
Max Svensson, owner of Hotel ÅhusStrand, comes by. He calls Berglund, photographer for the Golfresan magazine.
“You could take a picture of me and Marie.”
“Marlene ...”
“Right.”
Smith positions himself next to the bathtub. Both he and Marlene smile into the camera. Marlene with experience from many advertising campaigns a bit more accustomed, so to speak.
“You'll have to jump in,” she says.
Before anyone reacts Svensson climbs in. With his suit on...and his shoes. Hedblom gets a laugh attack that transforms into something like swallowing a lot of water. The TV photographer stares as does magazine photographer Berglund. Three hotel guests on their way to the beach stop in astonishment. The only one who seems unconcerned about the situation is Svensson. He just steps out of the bath after a while and says:
“Fun being in the picture with Marie Hedblom.”
“Marlene ...“
“Right.”
Hotel ÅhusStrand is run by three Svensson brothers "who are basically farmers from Småland and like orienteering and golf." Little brother Michael is described by them as the economist, and the twins Max and Mats as most visible and audible. Or, to use an employee's words, 'two madmen'. In the positive sense of the word, that is.
It is, in any case one of these two who dripping wet in three degrees of cold wind who is asking us to join in looking into the fish shop where his staff is preparing an eel with fried eel and smoked eel and cooked eel and eel in all forms imaginable.
Large, wet footsteps follow him on the asphalt towards Ålabodarna. Some guests are watching. He nods calmly a 'good evening'. Well, it could have been a scene with John Cleese from Fawlty Towers.
Guess if people will be talking about this on ÅhusStrand in the future?
Otherwise it is more likely golf that is being talked about there, official hotel of the European Championship for Women in 2002 that was chosen largely thanks to the ten golf villas in the area.
The hotel is one of nine good but, among themselves, quite different hotels - along with four courses- are part of the Golf passport. An investment made in Kristianstad and, simply put, means that a golfer who feels like a few days of play calls 044-280285 and tee off times are arranged far in advance, as well as hotels, cars ...
Thomas Ryd, who himself has played on the Swedish tour for several years but now operates Araslöv’s GK, one of the courses that is included in the Golf Passport, explains the advantage of Kristianstad as a golf destination:
“We are located on the Kristianstad plain. It rains here a third of what it does on the west side. It’s because of how the ridges are in Skåne. The courses here are therefore among the first to be in good shape in the spring. Since Kristianstad is a bit of the back side of Skåne anyway, the price situation is totally different here.”
His course - a nice 18-hole with a good training area of 4,000 square metre grass tees, Strata balls on the driving range and a short course in great condition - has a final hole which some consider to be worth the trip in itself. A hole, par 4 and 350 metres that was designed by Tomas himself.
“My greatest thought,” he explains, “was that those who had been here would not forget us. Therefore, it should be spectacular. “
The green is situated as if on a peninsula right next to the restaurant - newly built with glass and aluminium and a metropolitan feeling in the Scanian countryside. Sinister waters and eleven metres separate the green and the outdoor seating. To reach the green you should go over the water, even if there is a secret path around for those who want to and where the green then stops the water starts.
“It’s eleven metres from the restaurant to the green. Guests can even talk to those who are playing. We wanted to get a sense of theatre and think that we succeeded.”
Sometimes there is applause before the curtain rises. Sometimes not ...
Or let’s put it this way: a group of friends who play in a few four-balls can from their beers in the afternoon sun put a lot of pressure on the players in the last ball ...
The courses and hotels in the Golf Pass are located within a thirty minute radius of Kristianstad. These so that players can without problem manage eighteen holes at, say, Araslövs GK or Kristianstad GK in the morning and eighteen more at Degeberga / Widtsköfle GK or Skepparslövs GK in the afternoon.
