Living on a farm in an autumn-coloured Italy is just as charming as it sounds.
AGRITURISMO Piana dei Castagni or in Swedish Chestnut Plain, in the village of Castel d'Aiano. It could not ring more Italian and it's just as charming as it sounds. Chestnut Plain may sound a little strange because this small guest house with its five rooms, situated high in the mountains, a few kilometres from Bologna. This is the least of all flat, if anything very hilly and very beautiful.
To choose a farmhouse or stay at the farm, is to come close to Italian life. Piana dei Castagni is no exception. The small village located forty kilometres southwest of Bologna where you take on winding roads. This is where you should go if you want to stay affordably in clean rooms, eat well and "just be" a few days and breathe fresh mountain air, and perhaps make a few trips to the golf course. But assume that it takes time to get up and down the mountains.
It will fit perfectly to order dinner - the hostess who will readily cook something using local raw incredients.
In the city of Zocca, approximately ten kilometresl from Castel d'Aiano, a chestnust festival is held annually in October, three weekends in a row. It is a fascinating experience to see the town chestnut pickers roast their crops over an open fire. The festival attracts many farmers who sell cheeses, hams, fruit, vegetables, wine, honey ... yes, everything that belongs to the good life.
