France, Provence, Barbaroux – Golf and Wine

Visit the vineyards, sample vintage wines and play golf at Pete Dye's only European creation. Barbaroux in France provides pleasure for all the senses.

In Provence awaits one of Europe's fifty best golf courses, Golf Club de Barbaroux. It is located between the cities of Brignoles and Flassans, 50 kilometres from the famous jet set resort of Saint-Tropez. Barely half an hour's drive away is the vineyard Domaine Rabiega in the town of Draguignan.

Winemaker Lars Torstensson came to Domaine Rabiega in 1988. In 1994 he was named Winemaker of the Year in France. Since 1990 the vineyard has received over 150 medals in both Europe and North America for its well-made wines. Cheers and thank you for the next...medal.

But why not start with golf before heading to the winery for tours and samplings. American Pete Dye has designed the Golf Club de Barbaroux, the only course the world famous Dye has designed in Europe.

It’s considered one of Europe's fifty best. The course is hilly, especially the first nine holes. American in design, but it blends in well with the Provencal countryside.
Barbaroux is not long. The obstacles lie around the green areas with deep bunkers and well-placed water hazards. For those who dare, there are several holes where you can take the "tiger-line” over water or ravines. There’s a chance of winning a stroke - or losing one, or maybe more. Yes, you probably know how it can go ...

Previously this was a vineyard. Now the course is located in the vineyard’s valleys surrounded by high mountains, hills and vineyards. It is so beautiful that we lose our breath.

Golf Hotel de Barbaroux is located only 100 metres from the clubhouse. All of the rooms face south and have a balcony / terrace.
