Burvik Golf Burvik - oasis in UPPLAND Burvik is investing heavily in the facility and in selling houses around the course. It’s exactly the houses that make Burvik unique. To turn off from the highway and drive the winding road between the houses and holes up to clubhouse reminds you of golf facilities on the Mediterranean. The hardest thing is to keep focused on the actual golf game. It's easy to go and look enviously at all split level houses with huge terraces out towards the golf course where you can sit and sip Martinis, while we mere mortals go and hunt for two points. The golf course is a masterpiece, designed by Bengt Lorichs, who is known for safeguarding nature's full potential. Here he has created a tactically challenging and extremely exciting nature course, which runs in gnarled Roslag Nature filled with oaks, junipers, birches, knobs of rock and streams. The golf holes are well separated from each other. This makes golf walks calm and comfortable and completely free of “fore” shouts. Since both 9-hole courses start and end at the clubhouse, the possibility of taking a short break and a little refreshment is provided. Holes 4, 7 and 11, sometimes frighten those with high handicaps, as the holes require sensitive shots over water hazards. Elite Players, by contrast, often have problems with holes 3 and 12. Here the player’s courage versus ability is tested, quite often with devastating results for the score. The course opened in 1992 with, among others. a. Burvik’s own European Tour player John Ryström present. Over the years, Burvik has had a progressive view of the golf’s development. The game form “stroke play” (1994), the membership form “green fee membership” (in 1997) and especially the adaptation of red tee for women’s strokes (2004) are excellent examples of this.
