Baltic Hills Golf Usedom
In the Baltic hills the balls are flying!
In the early summer of 2007 a Canadian and a German hotel owner enjoyed the views over the fields
and meadows of Korswandt on the island of Usedom, dreaming a common dream.
Right next to the imperial baths, nestled in the beautiful hilly landscape which is characterized by the glacial period, Bruce Johnston and Lutz Begrow from Usedom inaugurate in July 2009 "Baltic Hills island Usedom”. On the course you have breathtaking views over the nearby Gothensee and the sunny island of Usedom. The guests of the seaside resorts Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin have the opportunity to play golf on Usedom in a relaxed atmosphere, without having to travel longer distances.
On the terrtory of 57-hectares there was probably designed the first "19-hole golf course" in the Federal Republic of Germany. 19 holes? Everybody who is reasonably familiar with golf will smile and say, "Yes, yes, the Nineteenth is the bar, we know ..." But far from it! To make the distances short and enjoyable for the golfers and to make the practice facilities spaciously, there was created a par 3 hole between the putting green and the first tee. Each golfer knows the ever recurring discussion on the first tee on a private round or in a tournament. More often than not back pain or just recovered from a hip surgery is the reason for bad tee shots. Up to now on a lot of golf courses you have the chance to play a so-called "Mulligan", but at "Baltic Hills Golf Usedom" you find a "warm-up hole" or "Mulligan hole". The idea is well received by the golfers. Johnston and Begrow agree: "It is important for us that people have fun - doing the probably most wonderful pastime in the world." And that is also the motto of the two investors: Play golf - meet friends - have fun.
