Barceló golf of Bávaro

This was the first golf course in the entire Punta Cana tourist region and it is found inside the Barceló Bávaro Resorts tourism complex. The course is undergoing renovation and being redesigned under the supervision of P.B. Dye, the son of Pete and Alice Dye, the famous couple who designed golf courses in the Dominican Republic. A more challenging course is expected by the end of 2010. The original course was designed by the Spanish architect Juan Manuel Gordillo who took maximum advantage of the immense natural lagoon that interacted with a variety of holes. The key to playing your best golf on this course is to keep yourself on the fairways, which are very narrow in themselves, and not to be too ambitious by trying to take many shots close to the flag. The second round from the 10th to the 18th hole is being remodeled and reconditioned. Starting in March 2010, only these second round holes will be open while work is being done on the first nine holes.
