Holbæk Golfklub

The golf club was inaugurated in 1964 as a 9-hole course on an islet - Kirsebærholmen - in Holbæk Fjord. The course was designed by Frederick Dreyer and was in principle a seaside course where the beach ridges sheltered the course fairways. The location is unique, and Kirsebærholmen is one of the few places in Denmark where you can still find unspoilt meadows and a rich and varied birdlife. In 1993-94 the golf course was expanded to 18 holes. The last 9 holes were laid out with sweeping views of Kirsebærholmen, bay and headland Tuse Næs. The holes were designed by Jan Sederholm. All holes except hole 2 is located within the beach protection line. The golf course is relatively short. It is quite flat, but often exhausting because of the prevailing southwest winds over the bay. There are numerous lakes and bunkers, and the course requires solid and accurate shots. The greens are in good condition and medium fast. The course is in spite of it's lack of length challenging for both low handicapers and elite tournaments.
